Dear CHRISANTHA PERERA,
This letter is to confirm that you are a certificate holder of the MITx MicroMasters program in Data, Economics, and Development Policy. MIT’s Department of Economics and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) created the MicroMasters program in Data, Economics, and Development Policy (DEDP) to equip learners with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing developing countries and the world’s poor.
The courses in this online program are taught by MIT faculty. The online courses are based on courses that the faculty teach on campus at MIT, offering learners everywhere a world-class learning experience. For example, the online MITx course 14.73x “The Challenges of Global Poverty” includes content from the MIT course 14.73 “The Challenges of Global Poverty,” and is taught with the same level of depth and rigor. Earning a certificate in the course requires the completion of rigorous coursework through intensive lectures and homework assignments, as well as passing a corresponding proctored exam.
The DEDP MicroMasters Program includes the following courses:
- MITx 14.100x / MIT 14.01 “Microeconomics” – Professor Jonathan Gruber
- MITx 14.73x / MIT 14.73 “The Challenges of Global Poverty” – Professors Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo
- MITx 14.310x / MIT 14.31 “Data Analysis for Social Scientists” – Professors Esther Duflo and Sara Ellison
- MITx 14.740x / MIT 14.74 “Foundations of Development Policy” – Professors Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, and Benjamin Olken
- MITx 14.750x / MIT 14.75 “Political Economy and Economic Development” – Professors Abhijit Banerjee and Benjamin Olken
- MITx 14.009x - "Good Economics for Hard Times" - Professors Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo
- J-PAL 102x “Designing and Running Randomized Evaluations” – Rachel Glennerster and 12 J-PAL affiliated professors
MIT’s Department of Economics recognizes the value of these courses by granting credit to students who have completed the credential, by passing five online DEDP courses, and gaining acceptance to MIT’s Master’s program. To earn a credential, learners must complete three required courses: Microeconomics (14.100x), Data Analysis for Social Scientists (14.310x), Designing and Running Randomized Evaluations (JPAL102x), and two of three electives: Challenges of Global Poverty (14.73x), Foundations of Development Policy (14.740x), and Political Economy and Economic Development (14.750x).
We are delighted that you have earned a course certificate in the MITx MicroMasters in Data, Economics, and Development Policy. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact tnguyen@povertyactionlab.org.
Best,
